The Kerry Packer Philosophy

If you don't have time to listen to it all, just skip to the last 60 seconds.

Then, tell me how we clone him, and how we can replace all the drones in the UK with him.

Or, how we can educate our people enough to understand that the more they allow government to take from them, the more government wastes.

Or how, with every new piece of legislation, another slice of their freedom is removed.

If we could achieve this we'd have a decent country in about 45 minutes.

With thanks to Jim Fryar for the link.

The look on their faces was priceless. Great to watch , a man who can tell it like it is.

J,

I just loved his disdainful, couldn't give a shit attitude.

I wish they sold that in shops....

When these monkeys are challenged by someone that is supremely confident they crumble.

It is too funny, politicians as normal don't actually have a clue where they stand with regards to the law, like most police.

That has really made my day

DH,

That is why they resort to force. It's all they have.

They hate it when we don't fear them.

An extraordinary man. Governments, especially the Hawk and Keating ones did everything possible to destroy him.

Jim,

I wasn't paying enough attention at the time. I just seem to connect him with cricket.

I agree, a rare breed.

You can see in his posture and on his face he has no fear. The suits behind the microphones on the other hand realise they are being exposed for what they are as you can see on their faces and in their body posture.

Saying no to a state employee produces the exact same effect in the drone. Try it the next time they come a calling. There is very little if anything they can do if you show them you really don't give a shit.

In other news the Iceland vs Bankers story is going viral. Seems tptb aren't as 'in control' as they would have us believe.

William,

Fully agree. They never expect to hear the word no. It isn't in their script. The looks on their faces is priceless.

I really, really hope that the rumours of mass arrests turns out to be true.

That would be an excellent thing for the world.

I was there! I was there!

I remember this very well indeed. Unfortunately most other Australians don't.

A great loss to the country.

Compare and contrast to AlanCarr's ball-less apology for minimising his tax bill!

Careful, let him in and he'll produce World Series Cricket.

Love it. Exactly the sort of thing I wished someone would do at Brian's Inquiry or the sanctimonious meetings of the Select Committee, but then all sides in that game really are, as Becky would say, in it together, aren't they?

Much of what he did in WSC is now par for the course in modern cricket.

However there is an alternative viewpoint (dated 2001):

"From dawn to dusk, the routine events of life are being tracked, recorded and analysed. Cheaper computing power and a vastly expanding Internet - Australia now has the second highest Internet use in the world - have enabled businesses, government agencies and many others to watch what was once unwatchable and glean meaning and profit from everyday activities. Data giants such as Kerry Packer's Axciom have created dossiers containing names, addresses, incomes, purchases and other details about millions of Australians. Profile specialists make models of what consumers are likely to do or buy. All the while, data miners look for data to sell."

(There are some discussions as to the background of the magazine, here and here.)

YMMV; it doesn't detract from the entertainment value of the video though. :-D

Carr's climbdown was an absolute bloody joke.

Slightly tangental, but an interesting read relating to the general philosophy of 'control systems':

http://selfadoration.com/ManAlive.html

I came across this from a completely unrelated site.

It is interesting how the same general idea seem to be coming out of the woodwork from numerous directions.
