Our friends in Northern Ireland aren't allowed to leafleteer if the Council designates an area as leaflet free, unless they pay the council for the privilege. If you do, a dick from the council may approach you. Then -
"If an authorised officer of a district council proposes to give a
person a notice under this paragraph, the officer may require the person to give him his name and address.
A person commits an offence if
he fails to give his name and address when required to do so or
he gives a false or inaccurate name or address in response....A person guilty of an offence.... is liable on summary conviction to a fine..."

How they can fine someone when they don't know who he is, is a question unanswered.

Oh, and they want Paddy to apply in advance for permission to gather in a group of more than 50 people; funerals and church services are generously excluded from this requirement.

The bell-end responsible for this crap is called Edwin Poots, btw.

Lads, if I disappear it might be because of this email to David Cameron

The song titles thing - there is a novel by Dean Koontz in which an officer attempts to negotiate with an armed loony via Elvis song titles. Perhaps this officer (if the story is true) has a bit of a problem; it's not a good sign if officers try to re-enact scenes from a book.

Crikey, I read that as 'pheasant strike', which sounds pretty imaginative. Happens a lot round here between pheasants and cars. Could be adapted, I suppose.
