Merde!!

The 2012 olympics are to be held in French.

The games. Paid for by the British. Native English speakers.

In French.

Read it and weep.

Yeah. I would as well.

But The Spineless wouldn't even dare to think it.

D'accord. Voici votre facture de eleventy billion fucking quid, M. Johhny Frog. Parler en francais all you please, me old china, but only once you've coughed up, eh?

Correct me if I am wrong CR, but did this not happen in 2008, 2004, & 2000 etc?

Yes, one would expect the host nation's language to be used first, but rules are rules, are they not?

Sue is correct but the time to say that was before we submitted our bid! Sorry Sue.

What is ridiculous is that it should take two years to get this information. Information that should have been readily available on the IOC website?

No doubt some of those now complaining were amongst the crowds celebrating when the news that we had won came through?

Funny old world, ain't it?

WfW,

No doubt you are right. I don't pay much attention to sporty things.

They don't interest me even though I have been chipping in for them for fackin years.

They also don't put any money back in my pocket. Not ever.

I was momentarily outraged. For the sports fans.

I'm with WfW on this 'un.

French has been the official language of the IOC since whenever. The only country with a reasonable shout at claiming it should be otherwise is Greece.

Apart from the cost, it don't matter none.

It'll keep the useless eaters enthralled at least.

O/T - have a look at this if you've not come across it before.

It's quite a big story...

Sorry CR should've put the link in clicky form:

For myself they could present medals in Swahili and Latin for all I care I won't be watching any of it as I don't live anywhere near any of the 'olympic venues' and don't watch brainwash tv or listen to brainwash radio!

What is important though is the fact it took two years to find out innocuous information which really does beg the question what is Lord Coe and his barmy army REALLY scared of?

Xen,

Thanks for the link. (I think).

I am halfway through and it is scaring the bejesus out of me.

How can one organisation have pulled of a scam of this magnitude?

And, thanks to the Wikileaks thing, no-one cares, no-one notices! They just want Julian hung on a pole. Nothing else matters. Not even 12.3 trillion of their American dollars.

CR,

Yep, it scared the crap outta me too.

As you point out, the trick of pointing to a dot on the horizon and screaming, "kill the bastard!", has served its purpose well.

Although, I'm beginning to think that 'they' have set things in motion and have lost control. There's way too much going on for anyone to have a hand on the tiller.

Unless, of course, there is something like a time frame in which to accomplish the return to feudalism and the people need to be relieved of their liberty/life as fast as possible.

Something's not right.

I was reading in the Telegraph about all the other bollox thatLondoners will have to put up with during the Olympics like reserved Zil lanes on major roads and the Police being told to enforce commercial preference for official sponsors. Do you suppose Boris read al the small print before signing up?

I remember viewing a Stefan Molyneux video about the Olympics, it's well worth taking the time to watch.

Didn't you know that the Olympics' official language, whatever nation, is French? If you're lazy (fair enough) to check out the whole story behind the modern Olympics, check this out http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_French_the_official_language_of_the_Olympics
