There's at least two guys who are not entirely unhappy that the bomb was dropped - me and my old dad. He was getting trained to fly bombers against a fiercely-defended Japan. Thanks to the A-bombs he didn't have to go, but instead the war ended suddenly and so (as with many Allies and Japanese) he survived to raise a family.
