Light Blogging Next Week

I am off to Sweden in the morning, the north-east of Sweden, FFS, and I doubt I will have an interweb connection.

This is my billet for the week:

Front end.

Back end.

Bathroom.

Still, it looks a lot better than my usual "6 Star" accommodation in Lekki, Nigeria.

I fully expect to have food-poisoning by Wednesday as I have to cook for myself. The landlord is like the Scarlet Pimpernel. I have been trying to track him down for the last 5 days. I arrive at the airport of this mining town at around 10:30 on Monday night. I then take a taxi to the lakeside mansion and so far, I have no idea where the key will be. He may show up, or he may not. If he doesn't, I'll be kipping down on the back porch. Sunrise is at 2:29 am, so it will be a short kip. I'll pick up a bottle of brandy at the airport for erm, medicinal purposes.

If I can blog, I will. If not, have a most productive week, and I will catch up with you all on Saturday.

  3. Or 'The Bridge' Land. (Ok, also including Denmark...)

Utterly brilliant thriller series, wacky heroine, lots of smoking, beautiful soundtrack.

    Have a good trip...

Worked there for a little while, very pleasant polite people during the week days, Mad as a box of Frogs with a drink down 'em at the weekend.
BTW great post the last one, head up, keep at them, the movement is growing.

  6. Will Summer Night City do, Captain?

    ;-)

2.29 am isn't that bad. Go north a bit and the sun doesn't set at all, as demonstrated by the timelapse videos at the University of Tromsø in Norway...

For some in-flight entertainment containing an alternative viewpoint of the Nordic Model, stick these on your iWotsit-or-equivalent:

  7. I've just picked up a Swedish cookery book from the 1960s because it is so cute. Just like the Swedish Chef on the Muppets, I can't understand a word of it and yet I know what it means.

It looks like a fantastic place to be.

  9. The best laid plans of mice and men....

Serious delay out of Aberdeen meant that I missed my connecting flight. Never made it to the far north. Just arrived at a hastily booked hotel in Stockholm.

Off to hunt down some beer, or gin, or wine.....or peoples daughters....

Will continue north at daft o'clock in the morning.

    £6.80 a pint!

What IS wrong with these people?

Beer is 68 of their wotsits. A large G&T is 149 of their wotsits.

    £14 fucking 90 for a double gin!

    Woe is me.
