How Anti Smokers Think

Or not, as the case may be.

I have been having a dialogue with an anti smoker today on Twitter.

Want to see the exchange?

It started with this:

@buckmyoldfoots If a Mother 2be smokes whilst pregnant that child should be on "At risk" register before it's born! Must decide most important; fags or baby!

@CaptainRanty At risk of what? Studies show that the very worst risk is that the child will be born a few grams lighter. MSM lies. A lot.

@buckmyoldfoots "Studies show" always sign there aren't any! Smokers great excuse makers becos most important thing in addicts life is the drug!

@buckmyoldfoots Also at risk of passive smoking when born, lighter baby not only problem. what next, "Smoking is good for babies?"

@CaptainRanty Oh please! Humans have ingested carcinogenic smoke for 50,000 years. Our lungs can handle it. SHS is a myth. No-one dies.

@buckmyoldfoots I can honestly say that is the biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard; even from a drug addict!

@CaptainRanty Clearly you believe the lies of Big Pharma. Try some more research. Follow the money. Open your eyes.

@buckmyoldfoots my my, you really are addicted! Shall we get into the "Smokers stink, Smokers are scruffs?" You have NO defence, addict!

@CaptainRanty Have you even read the science? I have read over 80 studies. Never lost the science debate yet. All you have is the smell.

@buckmyoldfoots That's it then. Smoking is good for us;apart from smelling like a dogs arse, risking lung cancer...I feel so sorry for addicts

@CaptainRanty 84% of studies say SHS is statistically insignificant, 9% significant, 7% show positive effects. Read the damn studies.

@CaptainRanty A non smokers risk of contracting lung cancer is 2.4%. I smoke 20 a day. My risk? 2.6%. Like I said, read the science.

@CaptainRanty Nice work Clive. In five tweets you managed to call me an addict four times. Is this the best you can do?

@buckmyoldfoots but you are an addict or you wouldn't defend such a revolting habit! All the "Science" is funded by Forest & Tobacco companies!

@CaptainRanty Actually, all the science I have read was funded by YOUR side. Deal with that, my anti smoking friend.

There are a few more after that but you get the gist. Our pal hasn't read a single study, and he proves it by saying exactly what the MSM has taught him to say.

He offers me his pity at one point. I don't want or need your pity Clive. What I do want, what I do need, is a polite "Thank you" from bile-ridden, ill-informed, apartheid-supporting control-freaks like you. You can thank me for chipping in five times more tax to the NHS than you do. You can thank me for keeping your income taxes down. You can thank me for keeping 100,000 people employed in the UK. If you are a globalist, you can thank me for keeping over 100 million people employed around the world.

Tobacco and slavery gave this nation it's start in the world, in more modern times. (Both built America as well). Both are still legal. Yes, slavery still exists. In fact, it never went out of fashion. They just disguised the law, slightly.

They (the MSM and TPTB) tell us, ad nauseum, that second hand smoke kills millions around the world. I sent an FOI to the Ministry of Health years ago asking them to name three. I waited. I waited. And then I waited some more. They could not name three people, from an alleged list of millions, that had died from second hand smoke.

They lie. They lie all the time. About pretty much everything.

Friend Clive is convinced, and I feel sorry for him. And millions of others, who don't even dare to double-check what the papers have just announced as "a fact". It says so in the Guardian, or the Mirror, or the Sun, so no further proof is required.

Some people don't like tobacco smoke. I get that. But FFS don't tell me how harmful my smoke is whilst you stand around a BBQ inhaling more carcinogens in an afternoon than you would in five years in a smoky pub. Don't you dare scream about my smoke when you happily walk down a road with diesel & petrol fumes being pumped directly into your lungs and those of your kiddies in prams-right there at exhaust level.

No-one likes a braggart, but I studied tobacco. Extensively. From seed to smoke. I studied the studies. I know they are wildly inaccurate. I know they contain blatant lies. I am disgusted that men and women of science put their names to this shit. Have they no shame? No personal integrity? Have they fuck. They sell their professional opinions for 30 pieces of Big Pharma silver. A pox on them.

Chip in by all means, but FFS, do not bring the "smell" argument. This is the 21st century. We do not need to legislate against smells. If we do, I have a list of dozens of things I don't like to smell, but to legislate them is both futile and infantile.

Bring facts. Bring science. Bring opinion if you must. I warn you now: I can win the finance debate. I can win the science debate. I can win the debate based purely on libertarian philosophy.

I am NOT saying that smoking is good for anyone. Although, it does offer protection against colorectal cancer, Parkinsons Disease and Alzheimers Disease, to name but three. AND, asthma rates have soared as smoking prevalence has plummeted. Is there a connection? I don't know. Nobody does.

What I do know is that smokers hold all the records for longevity. A startling, but absolutely true fact. Google Jeanne Calment of France. She died at 123 years of age. She quit when she was 118, and then only because of failing eyesight-she was too embarrassed to ask for a light. She smoked for 106 years.

Lastly, if you want links to any of the claims I have made, just ask. I have thousands of them. I would prefer that you sought them out yourselves though. A common complaint is that "your source is tainted", even if the source is the anti-smoker sites themselves. And no, they see no hypocrisy in this at all.

Nor do they mind taking our body parts when they need them. Don't smoke in pubs, clubs and restaurants, but if I need your corneas, your kidneys, your lungs or your liver then I will happily take them. But because I am an anti smoker I will scream blue murder when I find out a smelly smoker saved my life though. Like I said, they don't do hypocrisy. Don't smoke in the street, don't smoke in your car, don't smoke in your home, but by fuck, keep buying them smokes because I need you smokers to keep my taxes down.

Twats.

  1. I stopped smoking but always have a go at the chronic non-smokers just because they are such thick cretinous sheeple.

OT: Any idea what happened to Old Holborn?

  2. Cool! BTW I am about to do something similar. I bought cheap property elsewhere abroad and just bought a vineyard with planning permission 30m from the sea for a weekend place there as well.
I started growing my own baccy too.
Could you leave a message on his blog, since you seem to know more than most?

  3. The antis fall back to the 'smokers smell' default position when they realise that they're talking nonsense. And even the 'smell' argument is total rubbish. Each time I go to the doctors (not often I hasten to add!) I have a fag on the way and every time I go in to see him he asks if I smoke so obviously he can't smell it on me! I don't smell and neither do my clothes because I wash!!

  4. If you are on twitter you can talk to him directly.

I am envious of your vineyard. I'd love one those.

Damn that global warming and its failure to appear in north-east Scotland!

  5. Hi CR

here in Wales the BBC are on the bandwagon with this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-17693419
where they clearly show that the rate in lung cancer in women in Wales has doubled. All due to smoking, no other causes can be considered. Doubled they might have, but double 0.019% to 0.038% ie an extra 19 people per 100,000 and it makes the headlines. All this is smoking, not the extra cars, processed foods, or a 100 different things that have changed in the last 30 years.

  6. Martin,

I get the same thing all the time.

I dress well and I wash my body often. Always have.

Remember how the antis used to complain about "having to wash all my clothes after a night out"?

I bet the filthy fuckers don't wash at all now....

  7. Hi Dominic,

    I love that story.

Lung cancer has 41 contributors. How do they know that smoking caused their lung cancer? The truth is simple: they don't.

If they happen to spot 20 Woodbine in your top pocket they will say "Ha! There's the culprit!", and then proceed to offer absolutely no proof whatsoever.

It's even worse with heart disease. It has over 300 contributory factors unless you happen to be a smoker. Then it has only one.

  14. What on earth is your twitter friend doing in UKIP? I don't smoke but detest people like that with a passion, what right is it of him to dictate what other people do? His only concern if he doesn't like smoke or smokers is to keep away from them, and it's not hard to do that at all these days. I'm a member of UKIP too, we promote personal responsibility, so he is in the wrong party, tell him to join the LibLabCon.

    ReplyDelete
  15. B&B,

    I will never understand them.

Their hatred is driven by something. Usually a family member has died and the doctor blamed tobacco, so off they set, down Anger Road.

In truth, no doctor can say what they died of, but they believe these people like the ancients believed the shaman.

You are absolutely right though: pally does not belong in UKIP. According to Nige they will allow bar owners to decide for themselves whether to allow smoking or not.

  17. LR,

It got worse and worse as his tweets continued so I stopped answering them.

He thinks he had the last word, so I wrote this piece, and I have told him where he can come to debate (in more than 140 characters) if he wants to.

  18. Captain - thought this might be apropos given what passes for "science" these days:

    http://cafehayek.com/2012/04/fake-science-everywhere.html

“We went through the paper line by line, figure by figure,” said Begley. “I explained that we re-did their experiment 50 times and never got their result. He said they’d done it six times and got this result once, but put it in the paper because it made the best story. It’s very disillusioning.”

    The endarkenment beckons.....

  19. Looks like @buckmyoldfoots has decided to join your debate using more than 140 characters. Though the quality of his debating is a bit repetative.

That is the work of overweight nonentity Double Dickieday.

So far he has written and posted around 150 comments, which I delete as fast as he posts them.

  27. I had/have lung cancer, you never know for sure until the next scan. Saw my surgeon last week and he was complaining there was no money in LC as it was all blamed on smoking,he had seen enough to know that wasn't true and despite the fact that it kills more woman than breast cancer. But trying to convince those responsible for funding was impossible. Called a friend in the US last week, she has Spinal Stenosis and, guess what, that was due to her smoking too. They are even worse than us but we are getting there. I am glad I am getting old, I don't like what the world has become.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It says above people don't like the smell of tobacco. It is actually the smell of cigarettes which they almost always object to, and I think that is due to the additives rather than the tobacco per se (which, in the case of cigarettes, is the cheapest and most adulterated). The smell of natural tobacco is very pleasant, I find.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well said in all Captain! :)

We thinks alike on much of this.

  30. Im an ex smoker but feel sorry for how smokers are treated. If when I smoked I was forced outside the pub into the rain and cold I would have probably given up earlier. Pity the pub owners who must feel the pressure too. So many of our lovely old pubs closed due to either smoking ban or high taxes on beer. I hate this fucking government for what they have done. Anyway, never trust them when they spout on about health issues: the same shitty, crooked load of professional liars who are quite happy to force fluoridated water, vaccines, toxic pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and GM food on you in the name of 'health'. Really, these fuckers have to go. When will we ever have the balls to do it though?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am a smoker, and Just happen to detest the smell of fat people :-)

They tend to sweat more than most .. can we ban them [fat people] you know from supermarkets and pubs, clubs and in particular, restaruants.

  32. Hi Cap'n,

You know I was having a debate with my mother about the massive rise in prices over the last 20 years (alcohol, tobacco, food, transport, etc) and how the wage hasn't been compensated also with this rise and she said well the rise in tobacco was a good thing, saying it causes.....etc..
I said if that was the case why did grandad not get cancer when he smoked 60 piccaddilly a day or so? I said if that were the case why do smokers around the world live longer, in some cases to non smokers who develop cancers?
I also said, natural tobacco products have no harmful chemicals within them, unlike cigarettes, but more importantly, who has the right to tell people they can't smoke if they want to?

It's about control and anti smokers are unaware they are fascists and programmed automatons under state control.
I have the odd rollie when I've had a few beers and I'd rather be in a pub that smells of smoke compared to putting up with smelly feet, farts and women's overpowering perfume.

    regards

  34. I'd like to address just two points here, the scent of tobacco and addiction. I happen to enjoy the scent but also realize it's an acquired penchant. The solution to the scent disagreement is to allow both smoking and non-smoking pubs. What stinks is control-freakery, always has and always will. How dare some people tell others how to live and what to enjoy or not to enjoy.

Now addiction. I'm happily addicted to everything and anything I happen to like. I like to smoke. I like spaghetti and meatballs, beautiful women and Jeff Beck's guitar playing. So what. We're all addicted to all sorts of things. There's just one addiction that is plainly destructive and that is control-freakery.

    What a long Twitter discussion!

Would you be willing to similarly express your opinion on the topic of banning smoking in public places? would be great if you visited http://ict-spaces.blogspot.com/2012/04/do-you-agree-with-smoking-banning-in_26.html and left a comment (or better yet get into a discussion with a non-smoker, there)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey Cap, I respect your opinion an RIGHT to smoke, but I really can't agree with "Humans have ingested carcinogenic smoke for 50,000 years. Our lungs can handle it." I mean, come on, how is that true? What, we've all lived near erupting volcanoes at some point?

Still, the attitude of these people is appalling. Calling you addict like you were a freaking murderer... Crazy people

    ReplyDelete
  40. Not so much living near active volcanoes, it's more the burning of wood in caves.

There are more carcinogens in a log of wood than there are in 40 cartons of cigarettes.

    Burning anything organic produces carcinogens.

If the second hand smoke stories were to be believed, mankind would not have lasted more than one generation, as the cancers kicked in.
