USA! USA! U! S! A!

Now this is spin.

In fact, I would go as far as to say it is the spinniest spin in spinland.

I know I said I wouldn't do much on the world cup, but this just begged to be reposted.

H/T to Man Widdicombe.

  1. Didn't watch the match but when I read the result I had to admit that a 1-1 draw with America is relly a defeat.

  2. Aye, there is that.

But to claim an outright win....

(The reporter at the NYP must be a Scotsman).

  3. From a country that calls a domestic baseball league, The "World" Series, it probably is a victory to them.

  4. Normally they call Britain England. Now they draw with england, we are the British and not the English. At least they are consistantly wrong about geography.

  5. Funny thing is Chalcedon , the problem you mention is exactly the same here with any Scottish loss at say the olympics being termed a Scottish loss but any win is termed a British win!!!(same goes for the Welsh) so the English really aren't much better at geography, maybe they are the ones in charge of the media both sides of the pond eh!!!

  7. VTFF, I will not be within 200 miles of the Olympics even if they were to offer me front row tickets for the best seats...I think it was the biggest mistake that we were given the contract...it should have gone to somewhere that needed the development say Africa. For us it is just an excuse for our govt to knock down half of east London ,build a huge 'gated' community area for the rich and install massive surveillance systems to keep them safe afterwards ,all at the public expense. Shafted again by the vested interests...but hey call me cynical if you like!!!

  8. No doubt some deluded soccer fan in these parts is looking at that and wondering if he can get away with claiming the Socceroos beat Germany nil goals to four :-)

By the way, Cap'n, like the new decor.

  9. AE,

It wouldn't surprise me in the least :)

Thanks. I was messing around yesterday with the new "Design" button. Every time I make a change I lose something though. This time it was my Wikio badge.

    It'll turn up again. Probably.
