We have been taken roughly. We have been violated. We have been ignored. We have been discriminated against. We have been sidelined. We have been abused.
Is it any wonder 1 in 5, after witnessing an admittedly weak BNP leader on Question Time bullied by a baying mob (and the audience), would consider voting for them? I personally would not, because most members of the BNP belong in a cave. They have no understanding of our unique culture. They conveniently ignore that we Britons are a mongrel nation. I can trace my own lineage back to 1498 and, with a bit of effort, earlier even than then. So what? I am here because I am here. Generations of immigrants to our fair isle came for a better life. Who can blame them, and who amongst us would deny them? I certainly would not. I think, like most other libertarians, that I welcome anyone, of whatever hue, to come, settle in, make a life, and I only have a couple of conditions: be productive, and remember that you voluntarily left your homeland and that no-one asked you to bring negative elements of that culture with you. Remember that we have a different set of values and we live our lives by them. If we wanted to live under your homelands' rules, WE would move there.
When you leave the country of your birth to settle in another land, please, please, please bring only those parts of your culture that will fit in with ours. We Britons have shed blood for centuries to build what we have today, and if you push too hard, we will eventually put away our good manners and retaliate. Shariah Law has no place in modern Britain. Stoning women who have been raped is a barbaric act. "Honour" killings? No such thing. Not in the 21st Century. Not here. Not anywhere else on the planet either. It is murder, so please, let's not try to give it a more acceptable name. The word honour has largely been forgotten. By politicians, by the judiciary, by the police, and, sadly, by most people, but I now live a life in which my honour defines me, and I will not have it sullied by backward thinking. And I don't care which culture you come from that uses this nastiness to restore pride, face, or the family name. It is a brutal and unneccesary act.
The Labour government has tried, and failed, to be all things to all men. Might as well attempt to wave a wand and create Utopia. It cannot be done. The last 13 years have been vicious. The sheer volume of statutes that HMG has shat out defies comprehension. But when you know that they do not, cannot, read and understand every statute they vote on, it makes my blood boil. We pay these people to represent us in parliament but their focus on ratifying new European law is not just lop-sided, it is, in my opinion, criminal. Not just mine. I watched a constitutional expert the other night on TV and he confirmed that the Queen has committed thousands of treasonous acts since 1973. Every time she rubber stamps another statute that was born, illegitimately, in Brussels, she breaks the oath she made to we Britons in 1952 at her own coronation. And who gets upset by this? Very, very few of us. It's almost as if they are pumping Prozac into us through the water supply. Never, never in our history have we been so complacent, so unaffected, so uncaring while our fair country is raped, repeatedly, by men and women who care not a jot for the very people who gave them power.
Is it really all that surprising that litte people like me, angry beyond measure, previously ignorant (and knowingly so) of matters politic, find themselves so outraged that they enter Lawful Rebellion? I have several choices: I can reach for the cudgel, or I can reach for the quill. The cudgel I don't like (yet) because it means hurting fellow human beings, and that doesn't sit right with me. So I reached for the quill (ok, keyboard) instead, and began to retaliate in a small, but meaningful way. All I need to turn this all around is 999,999 people. In conversations the Queen has stated that if one million people demonstrate the same viewpoint as John Harris, she will act.
I am not the best advert for our movement. I am in middle management, and I am a corporate citizen. I am not Swampy. I am not one of those Fathers For Justice. I am not a Greenham Common activist. I have a family, and they need to be fed, and clothed, and housed, and protected. Under present statutes I am prevented from protecting my herd when they come under threat, or indeed, attack. I am likely to be arrested, charged and gaoled for doing what has come naturally to every father and husband since we climbed down out of the trees. Ancient law requires me to defend this land from foreign invaders but how am I to do that when they won't allow me to own a weapon? My own sons, (again under ancient law) are required to train with a bow and arrow so that they too, can defend our nation. Both are over 12 years old and I am breaking the law by NOT ensuring that they are proficient with the bow.
Am I asking to return to 12th century Britain? Yes, in some ways. Life was simpler then. Everyone knew and understood the law. Can any of us, especially those that make the law, say that today? I know they cannot. Before you accuse me of being a dinosaur, I confess that I love technology. It is a constant wonder to me that we have advanced so much in such a short time. Medical advances mean that we live so much longer than even our recent ancestors, but lately, I have been wondering if I want to. My country is nearly gone from me. If the people have lost their fighting spirit, then we have all lost. If we continue to allow Shariah Law to be practised, we have lost. If we allow the Tories to replace the Labour violators, we have lost. If we allow ourselves to subsumed into Europe, we have lost.
I will go down fighting. I will not roll over to be fucked again and again by career politicians.
The quill is still my weapon of choice, but I am putting a fresh coat of varnish on my cudgel.
Just in case the will to fight returns to my brothers and sisters.

Bloody well said, Cap'n!
I have linked to you.
Excellent post. Have shamelessly stolen parts of it, with acknowledgments to you.
Love a good rant - especially on the issue of my freedom. Keep on shouting!!
**applauds loudly**
Thank you all for your kind words.

Great Post! It sums up just how i feel, disenfranchised, disenchanted and disappointed. Forgotten, lied to and abused at every opportunity by those who were elected to govern us, i feel sometimes as tho i have no other option, the only thing left is the cudgel
Top drawer stuff, Cap'n.
funnily enough, I don't know anyone who doesn't feel exactly the same.... let's start a revolution....
Very eloquently said!
Spot on Ranty! Keep it up - you speak for many of us.
I'm with you. Forget the quill, let's go with the cudgel.
I'm tired of repressive government by way of management consultancy.
The edifice is pretty rotten, shouldn't take much to bring it down. Good Lord, Nick Griffin was on QT only last week.
Thank you all.
It was rage wot dunnit.

But unlike what you posten on the post above this, I agree with you entirely on this one!
Thank you for a sound analysis!
